Subject: Marigny Trace - Issue regarding elementary school bus driver

Kevin -

Earlier this evening I received a call from Jody Ibieta, who resides at 608 Tanager Dr. (504) 343-3810, reporting that the elementary school bus driver has encountered continued issues with the construction trucks on Tanager Drive to the extent that she has had to drive up onto the grass of adjacent properties for appropriate clearance. The school bus driver expressed safety concerns with having to maneuver the bus through areas with unsafe clearance. She has also been forced to back up the bus in order to turn around.

Please recall that the issue of safety was discussed during our meeting with you many months ago.

My understanding from Mrs. Ibieta is that, if the issue is not resolved promptly, the children will have to walk quite a distance away from their homes in order to board the bus, as the bus driver is not supposed to drive the bus in reverse.

Kevin, I am asking that you please do whatever you can toward making the issue right with the construction of the Tanager Drive cutback. The properties along the cutback area do not include the appropriate footage along the street, as required by Parish ordinance, thus creating an unsafe traffic zone.

Marigny Trace is a wonderful neighborhood with many young families with children in the immediate area where the cutback should be. It is imperative that the cutback be installed to maximize neighborhood safety for our children & their school bus drivers.

Sincere regards,
Lovelle
